Former professional kickboxer turned social media provocateur Andrew Tate claims he withdrew $500,000 in Bitcoin to invest in GameStop and meme coins to anger hedge funds.

“There is a hedge fund manager who, when he wakes up tomorrow morning – if GameStop opens at its current price – will lose $13 billion dollars,” Tate said in a statement. Twitter Video. “Your entire hedge fund!”

Your Reddit-inspired hypothesis is similar to 2021 Theory around the same stock. As return of Roaring Kitty– the internet figure who led the movement – it looks like the meme stock craze is in full swing.

“I’m cashing out half a million dollars in Bitcoin right now and I’m going to go all in, max leverage, go all in on all these stocks,” Tate said. “We are losing all the money, we are bringing down Wall Street, we are going to bring them down ourselves.

“I’m taking down Wall Street, watch me,” he continued. “Fuck them. Fuck everyone.

Tate says he doesn’t care if he loses everything – his motivation is the downfall of the unnamed hedge fund manager.

The flurry of activity surrounding GME shares has more than doubled its value in the last 24 hours – prompting exchanges to stop trading at least six times on Monday – meanwhile triggers US$1.4 billion in settlements for investors who bet against its rise, according to Bloomberg. GME is trading for $32.50 at the time of writing, compared to $10 a month ago.

An unofficial Solana meme coin named after Game Stop has been published even more astronomical gains.

Since then, Tate has gone further, shouting the Occupy Wall Street movement, which initially triggered the first wave of interest in meme stocks. Some investors blame the hedge funds and other financial institutions for the 2008 financial crisis. Investing in stocks that will cause hedge fund losses is a way to get revenge.

Tate went on a tirade on Twitter, touting GameStop shares and invoking WallStreetBets’ pledge that it will never sell its shares, no matter the price.

“It’s about pissing off some idiot somewhere on Wall Street with a vaccine and a little Johnson,” Tate exclaimed in another video.

This all comes amid influencer judgment for alleged human trafficking and rape. A few weeks ago, a Romanian court said his trial could officially continue 10 months after Tate and her brother were charged. A few days ago, the same court extended restrictions which prevent Tate from leaving Romania for another 60 days. The trial date has not yet been set.
