Bitcoin Surges Past $67,000 as Altcoins Post Huge Gains (Weekend Watch)
The cryptocurrency market saw a massive recovery yesterday after starting the day very slowly and even dropping significantly. However, buyers stepped in and pushed Bitcoin above $67,000, while many altcoins are posting impressive returns.
Bitcoin Surpasses $67,000
Bitcoin price is up about 5% on the day, staging an impressive recovery after falling to as low as $63,000 earlier in yesterday morning’s trading session.
Bitcoin was able to hit a local daily high of $67,400 on Bitstamp, but has since declined to its current level of $66,600. This is still an impressive performance, and bulls could be consolidating now in anticipation of a further rally towards the $70,000 level.
Zooming out to an hourly view, the price appears to have returned to an uptrend, and it is interesting to see if this will take Bitcoin to $70,000, which appears to be the next important level.
Altcoins in a sea of green
It’s not just Bitcoin that’s seeing impressive gains, it’s the entire market. As the heat map below shows, all large-cap altcoins are up considerably.
Among the most notable performances, we find DOGE, which managed to register an increase of around 7.3%, SOL – up almost 6%, AVAX – up 5.4%, NEAR – up more than 6%, and so on.
SEI and ORDI are the best performers of the day, up 18.5% and 16.4% respectively. POPCAT and BONK are the best performing memecoins, up 16% and 13.2%.
Interestingly, all top 100 cryptocurrencies by total market cap are in the green, showing the strength of the market over the past 24 hours.
