Customer data breach of 3 crypto wallets
A hacker responsible for the Ethereum.org cyberattack is now selling data linked to major cryptocurrency wallets such as Keepkey, Trezor, Ledger and the online investment platform Bnktothefuture.
The hacker has three large databases with information on at least 80,000 customers. This includes the customer’s email address, name, telephone number, residential address and other data.
According to the data breach monitoring and prevention service called Under the Breach, the data of customers who allegedly purchased products using Shopify from these crypto wallets has been compromised.
“The hacker appears to have no password, but offers detailed information stolen from an alleged Shopify breach such as email addresses, home addresses, and phone numbers,” Bitcoin News reports.
Ledger, however, tweeted: “Rumors claim that our Shopify database was hacked via a Shopify exploit. Our ecommerce team is currently verifying these claims by analyzing the so-called hacked DB, and so far it doesn’t match our real one ( database) DB We continue to investigate and are taking this matter seriously.”
A Shopify spokesperson told Bitcoin.com: “We have investigated these claims and have found no supporting evidence, nor evidence of compromise of Shopify’s systems.”
The hacker publicized the databases of 18 virtual currency exchanges and forums, as well as the email lists of two cryptocurrency platforms.
