January 3: KuCoina Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange, said its investment and incubation program KuCoin Labs has invested in the ISSP, to support the development of its “innovative membership protocol, which operates on the cutting-edge Sui network, known for its high throughput and scalability,” according to a Press release. “ISSP is the first cross-chain membership protocol system that integrates a membership market and membership exchange, leveraging the unique Objects model of the Sui network to naturally benefit membership systems. ISSP initially launched the standard membership protocol SUI-20 on the Sui network, using the network node’s built-in indexer to index the subscription data.”

Particle Network Introduces “Account Abstraction Protocol for Bitcoin”
January 2: Particle network, describing himself as the “Web3 intent-centric modular access layer” revealed “BTC Connect,” claiming it is “the first account abstraction protocol for Bitcoin.” According to the team: “BTC Connect leverages the ERC-4337 design and L2 EVM-compatible chains to introduce a Smart Account, Paymaster, Bundler, and a unique Bitcoin-specific modal. This protocol allows developers to offer gas-free trading, software programmability ‘account and other account abstraction features for your users, simplifying the development process in the fast-paced world of ordinals and subscriptions.”
Waterfall, Layer-1 chain based on DAG technology, launches Testnet 8
January 2: Network of waterfallsa layer 1 blockchain based on “Directed acyclic graphs” or DAG technology for rapid proof-of-stake consensus, launched Testnet 8, ‘representing the latest version of the protocol with optimizations and bug fixes that allow the network to reach loads of over 10,000 transactions per second.’ Other optimizations and improvements include faster synchronizations in parallel, improved search for new peers, automatically unlocked validators, increased reliability in optimistic consensus, randomness creation, new transaction gas estimates, and storage optimization,” according to the team.
DOTins Launches Inscription Minting Platform for Polkadot Ecosystem
January 2: DOTin, in partnership with Moonbeam Network, has officially launched its membership minting platform ahead of the rollout of its full membership marketplace, according to the team. “DOTin allows users to create, transfer and manage subscriptions across the Polkadot ecosystem. DOTins aims to leverage Moonbeam’s cross-chain capabilities to create omni-chain memberships where use cases make sense.” (POINT)
Fountain, the Bitcoin Lightning Network payments podcast app, launches redesign
December 21: Fountaina podcast app powered by the Bitcoin Lightning Network, has “launched its biggest design and user experience update to this day,” co-founder Nick Malster told Protocol Village. “Now it’s easier than ever to support your favorite podcasts, discover new ones through social features like clips and playlists, as well as earn bitcoin (BTC) to listen and share the best content. Strike users can now also link their Strike account to their Fountain wallet and top up with their preferred currency without ever leaving the Fountain app. Fountain 1.0 is now available on iOS and Android.”
December 21: Ambossa data analytics provider for the Bitcoin Lightning Network, launched “Ghost addressesthat allow users to seamlessly receive payments into personal custody without relying on the centralized wallet intermediaries that have dominated usage to date,” according to the team.
Tenderly 2023 EVM Network Landscape Report Assesses Impact of ‘Multi-Chain System’
December 21: Tenderly released his “EVM Network Landscape Report 2023, examining the most widely used Ethereum scaling solutions and revealing increased on-chain activity across Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, and Base for chain-specific use cases,” according to the team: “The availability of tools and the infrastructure on these ranges also indicates their developing ecosystems. Overall, the report assumes that a multichain system of independent networks and apps will benefit Ethereum’s scalability, ecosystem resilience, growth, innovation, and overall blockchain adoption.”
WalletConnect Announces Plan for a Decentralized, Permissionless Network
December 21: WalletConnect announced an “ambitious new roadmap to build an open, permissionless, decentralized network that will improve the performance of the WalletConnect protocol and achieve functionality that better aligns with Web3 principles,” according to the team. “Milestones on the roadmap will be tested, verified and executed over the next year, concluding with a proposed formal launch of an open, permissionless WalletConnect network in 2025.”
Bitfinex Securities announces the first tokenized bond on Liquid Network
December 21: Bitfinex Securities Ltdwhich offers security token listing and trading services, announced the successful raising of 5.2 million USDT in a tokenized bond issue, according to the team: “The tokenized security offering is the result of collaboration with microfinance firm Mikro Kapital which operates a securitization fund called Alternatives. The tokenized bond, denominated in USDT, uses the ticker ALT2612 and has a tenor of 36 months with a 10% coupon.”
