Martin Shkreli, also known as “Pharma Bro,” has claimed that he and Barron Trump are responsible for the introduction of the enigmatic cryptographic token DJT, a cryptocurrency named after Donald Trump.

The investor and convicted securities fraudster’s claim comes after a spike in the price of meme coin DJT due to rumors of its alleged link to the former US president.
Barrão18-year-old, developed the TrumpCoin (DJT) token with his father’s agreement and has the private keys to his smart contract address, according to Shkreli.
Shkreli, who was sentenced to more than six years in prison for securities fraud, claims Barron asked him to establish the Solana-based currency in April. Based on statistics from Birdseye, the token is currently valued at $146 million.

As for the subject, neither donald trump or Barron made a public statement.
Shkreli stated in an X Spaces hosted by Mario Nawfal that he did not actively participate in the token launch and only offered guidance to his “friend” Barron on the token’s debut.
He further stated that Trump was the true inventor of DJT and included influencer “Ansem” from the bitcoin space.
“I have over 1,000 pieces of evidence that I created with Barron,” Shkreli told online crypto investigator ZachXBT, who provided the data on X.
He sent the message to ZachXBT after blockchain startup Arkham Intelligence announced a $150,000 reward for identifying the person or people behind the DJT coin.

In a post on X, Shkreli said that ten people were involved in launching the token. “I taught someone how to make contact and he was the one who pressed the button, not me. The keys are with Trump, not me.” He added that “I did not act alone.”
He also claimed that Trump had spoken to Kraken, a cryptocurrency exchange, about the possibility of listing DJT.
Calming it donald trump “approved,” said Pharma Bro, 41, “I have receipts from Barron saying his father approved.”
“We did this in [Barron’s] computer. He ran the programs,” he said. “We talked every day for 10 hours a day for the last week.”
In an attempt to support his claims, Shkreli brought the “Mongol Prince” – a teenage figure with fewer than 500 X followers who was allegedly involved with Shkreli – to X Spaces.

When someone in the audience asked the somewhat shy Mongolian prince if “Barron made the token” and “has the private keys,” he responded with an “mmhmm.”
Another audience member asked the Mongolian prince “who executed the contract,” he said firmly, “Barron,” adding that he “wanted to do something special, something meaningful, and we all wanted to help him with that.”
According to Mongolian Prince, he met with Trump in Florida. Before the DJT token’s debut, the Mongolian prince said Trump laughed when Barron showed him the Solana-based Phantom wallet.
Blockchain expert ZachXBT received a $150,000 award from blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence for allegedly identifying Shkreli as the developer of the DJT cryptocurrency.
Adam Cochran, partner at Cinneamhain Ventures, accused Shkreli of being “trying to throw Barron under the bus” in an effort to clear his own name.

Many viewers on X Spaces agreed with Shkreli’s account of events, while others disagreed, saying Trump would not be foolish enough to compromise his father’s reputation during an election year.

One of Trump’s closest advisors, Roger Pedrarefuted any involvement of the former president or Barron with the DJT memcoin, as talk of their involvement took center stage on social media.
In 2017, Shkreli was found guilty of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy in federal court. He was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison and, as a result, fined nearly $70 million.

Many people have speculated that his current involvement may violate parole restrictions, but Shkreli has refuted this.
In response to the 1.6 million followers of the X “BORED” account, who threatened to send him back to prison, Shkreli responded: “Read the law, idiot.”

How DJT Affected Other Meme Coins
The influence on cryptocurrency prices with Trump themes have been significant regardless of the general skepticism about the alleged links between the DJT token and the Trump family.
The MAGA-inspired TRUMP cryptocurrency fell 31% in the four hours following the reports, according to data from CoinGecko, from its previous level of $7.46. The token’s market valuation fell by nearly $150 million as a result of this sudden drop, dealing a serious blow to the Make America Great Again-themed cryptocurrency.

It is interesting to see that other Trump-related meme coins have also been affected by the backlash. Over a comparable time period, the Solana-based Donald Tremp (TREMP) token plummeted sharply, dropping 36.8% from $0.95 to $0.60. After the first sell-off, TREMP managed to partially recover to $0.76.
